Tall cylindrical firing chamber, English, 1820-1900

This furnace was probably used to heat substances during chemical experiments. Shaped like a tall tapering cylinder on three legs, the outside is made from iron with a firebrick lining. This cylindrical furnace was probably built in England. It is shown here with a swan-necked glass retort (A630052).
