Human plasma protein solution in bottle supplied by the Lister Institute on behalf of the Ministry of Health

Plasma protein is used in treatments for life-threatening diseases including bleeding disorders such as haemophilia, immune system deficiencies and severe burns. ‘Plasma protein’ is the proteins found in plasma, the liquid component of blood within which blood cells are suspended. Plasma makes up around 55% of blood's volume and carries nutrients, hormones and waste products around the body. This bottle of human plasma protein was supplied by the Lister Institute on behalf of the Ministry of Health. The millimetres scale on the side of the bottle is written in two directions. This enables physicians to read the scale accurately when the bottle is upside down.
