Soper's portable disinfector, probably late 19th century, by J. Stiff and Sons, English

Designed to be hung from a wall, this portable device was intended to ‘disinfect’ an area. In reality this might simply have meant attempting to neutralise the odour in foul-smelling areas.

The disinfector was made by J. Stiff & Sons, a pottery business based in Lambeth, London, which produced a wide range of goods.
