Sir Edward Thomason's Scientific & Philosophical Medals. 1828 in a green leather case in the form of a bound book 27 x 19 x 4.5 cm, titled on spine, inside has two trays containing total 16 white metal medals each 73mm diameter with lens 66x54mm (ex-Gabb, NMM, V.77). Among them, one for Phrenology. Lacking contents card. i.e., an edition of Sir Edward Thomason's 'Series of Scientific and Philosophical Medals' / Struck at his Manufactory in Birmingham, [1829]. Obverse/reverse: - 1. Mechanics. 2. Optics. 3. Electricity/Galvanism. 4. Hydrostation/hydraulics & Pneumatics. 5. Metallurgy/Specific Gravities. 6. Chemistry. 7. Astronomy. 8. Mineralogy. 9. Newcomen & Beighton on ditto/Perkins on the high pressure. 15. Watt single for raising water. 16. Watt double for driving machinery/with every improvement
