Portrait of 'Clementina Maude' by Lady Clementina Hawarden, albumen print, 1863, woman reading seated beside window.

An albumen print photographic portrait of Clementina Maude, taken by Viscountess Clementina Hawarden in 1863.

This albumen print is representative of the distinctive style that make Hawarden's portraits stand out from her Victorian (predominantly male) contemporaries. Viscountess Hawarden made many images of her daughter Clementina Maude (1847-1901) by these large floor to ceiling windows at the family home of 5 Princes Gardens, South Kensington, London.
