Notice in wooden frame, Great Western Railway, Locomotive Carriage and Wagon Dept. Notice regarding wearing Eye Protectors.

Working in a locomotive, carriage and wagon works could be extremely dangerous, especially in the days before health and safety regulation and legislation.

This notice calls attention to the necessity of wearing eye protection when using drills and other workshop equipment.

Particularly graphic is the description of the consequences of getting metal and wood chips in the eye, and the risk of "permanent injury" if the incident is not dealt with in the right way.

Other preventative measures are noted - "No harm will be done by the use of the eye-drops provided in the ambulance cabinets to relieve pain"
