British Railways Derby-built 2-car DMV

Made:
1960 in Derby

Model diesel-mechanical two car diesel multiple unit on track with plinth with information plaque, approximately 1:32 scale. Class name Derby Lightweight. Model built at BR Derby c1960. British Railways, Derby-built. Vehicle numbers. E79022 and E79614. This class was an evolution of the early Derby Lightweight DMU's, and built in a variety of one, two and four-car sets from 1954 until 1956. They were used for working branch line and suburban services in the Midland, Eastern and North Eastern regions. The Beeching service cuts led to a surplus of DMU's which resulted in these units being withdrawn due to their non-standard coupling codes.
