Depicts Claughton class 4-6-0 locomotive number 5900 hauling an express passenger train, with smoke billowing from the locomotive's chimney. In the background is an arched overbridge, with another bridge in the distance. A permanent way worker stands beside the track, with a sledgehammer over his shoulder. Two more workers are visible further down the track. Signed by the artist bottom, left of centre. Original artwork for London, Midland & Scottish Railway poster. Framed and glazed with glass.
