Painting, oil on canvas, Paignton, by Douglas Lionel Mays, about 1958. Depicts a young blonde woman in a blue swimsuit lying on a red rock, looking out to sea. Beneath her is the beach with lapping waves, and red cliffs with grass and trees at the top. Beyond are the breakwater, harbour, town and Devon hills. Signed by the artist at bottom right. Unframed. Original artwork for British Railways (Western Region) poster Paignton, South Devon, the family resort of picturesque Torbay, one of the Travel by Train series.
