Painting, oils on canvas, Building Matilda Tanks at Horwich by Norman Wilkinson, about 1942. Depicts the construction of Matilda Mark 2 tanks at the London, Midland & Scottish Railway's Horwich Locomotive Works. Fitters are working on a line of tanks in the erecting shop. Some have their engine covers raised. In the foreground are components and tools, and above are overhead cranes. The nearest tank is T191463. Signed at bottom right. Created for the LMS at War series. Unframed.
