Bronze medal struck to commemorate the Centenary of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, 1825-1925. Diameter 3"., Obverse legend: FIRST IN THE WORLD. 1825 1925. A Railway worker or Vulcan rests on a hammer an in his right hand. holds Locomotion No. 1. Pacific class locomotive in background. Reverse: Conjoined busts of Edward Pease (1767-1858) and George Stephenson (1781-1848) between two coats of arms, Stockton and Darlington. Reverse Inscription: EDWAED PEASE. GEORGE STEPHENSON. STOCKTON & DARLINGTON RAILWAY - INCLUDED IN LONDON& NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY 1825-1925. Obverse and Reverse Maker's mark: G.B.
