One silver salver. 8-scoop, rolled edge; diameter 12"/30.5cm, on four raised club feet, height 1"/3cm. Hallmarked verso [GH, crown, lion, gothic o; perhaps not English]. Centre motif of two-horned ibis or gazelle, holding apple; motto swag beneath 'Qualis ab Incepto'. Engraved text in French: A la "Poste Aerienne" qui a ouvert et assure les communications rapides intercontinentales par l'emploi de la technique la plus perfectionnee / Hommage a son personnel qui faisant preuve d'un constant devouement / ne s'arret devant aucun sacrifice / en temoignage de mon profond respect et haute reconnaissance / TA Lebreton / Ambassadeur d'Argentine en France / Paris 1937. [= translates as] "To the 'AERIAL POST' which opened and maintained rapid inter-continental communications by employing a most perfect technique. / Homage to its personnel who have given proof of unceasing devotion regardless of any sacrifice. / In witness of my profound respect and highest esteem. / T.A Le. BRETON. Ambassador of the Argentine in France. Paris 1937."
