Stock exchange automatic telegraph, made by Thomas Edison, Menlo Park, New Jersey, United States, 1872-1880.

This instrument was designed by Thomas Edison (1847-1931) for printing stock exchange prices on slip (paper tape). Each printer was connected to a transmitter located at the stock exchange, so that users could receive stock information at the same time, and instantly, rather than waiting for message boys or the following day's newspaper. This is the original instrument, although it is incomplete.
