The J B Atkinson Collection is composed of three albums showing the locomotives, services, and lines of the West London Joint Railways. The collection also comprises cuttings concerning the railways and details of tickets.

The West London Joint Railways was formed by the opening of the West London Extension Railway in 1863 which joined the existing West London Railway. Four companies were partners in the Railway - the London & North Western Railway, Great Western Railway, London & South Western Railway, and the London Brighton & South Coast Railway. The West London Joint Railways' first Superintendent was Samuel Grew from the LNWR.

J B Atkinson wrote a book about the West London Joint Railways which the National Railway Museum holds in its Library.
