JVC (Model 3241UK) Videosphere television receiver, 1970.
A JVC 3241UK Videosphere television receiver, made in Japan, 1970.
Shaped like a spaceman's helmet, the futuristic JVC Videosphere was first introduced in 1970, and was sold up until the early 1980s. Several other space-age TVs were made during the 1970s, including one that resembles a flying saucer. The Videosphere was popular for its modern design, and the fact that it included an alarm clock at the base on certain models. It could either sit in its curved base, or hang from the ceiling on a chain.
