Moldacot patent lockstitch sewing machine with accessories in tin case 1886-1887. These machines were made in Germany where they were named Rosenthal and stamped with a crown. In London a slightly modified version was made by Moldacot during 1885 and 1886 and stamped with an anchor. This is the U.K. version and was at that time the smallest sewing machine specifically designed for fitting session adjustments. The machine has a clamp to secure it to a table and is worked by pushing down the needle bar which has a spring return. The firm only remained in business for two years and although up to 60,000 machines may have been produced very few were sold. the company lost £50,000 in this short time. The machine design was not fully developed and as a consequence its performance was poor.
