Barnet Mark III ventilator/ anaesthetic apparatus and trolley, made by Watson of Barnet, England. 1950-70.

The Barnet Mark III ventilator and anaesthetic apparatus is a multipurpose machine on one trolley. It differed from the earlier Mark II machine (see 1998-492) by incorporating anaesthetic as well as ventilation apparatus. The machine mixed the appropriate gases for anaesthesia and carried attachments for five separate gas canisters.

The Mark III apparatus was originally developed at Barnet General Hospital. It was made and distributed by W. Watson & Son Limited and this example was used at Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk
