A small military version of of the ICL Distributed Array Processor - model Mil-DAP. Serial number M002/005. This is an early parallel processing computer.

The ICL Distributed Array Processor (DAP) was an early commercial massively parallel computer and represents a significant advance in computing techniques by a leading British company. This military version was a very successful design for use in ships, aeroplanes or helicopters. Its acquisition fits the content themes being developed by the Science Museum to guide its future activities, and it represents a technology otherwise thinly represented in the collection.
