Model of the Harwell controlled Zero Energy Thermonuclear Assembly (ZETA), scale 1:24, by Miniature Engineering (London) Ltd., London, SW1, 1958. With perspex shade made in Museum workshops. On 24 January 1958, UKAEA scientists claimed that thermonuclear fusion had been achieved in the ZETA experimental fusion reactor but these claims were later withdrawn. (Note: ZETA is sometimes incorrectly expanded as Zero Energy Thermal Apparatus). (Controlled fusion of atoms)
