Painting. [Brighton Chain Pier] / by William Earp, c.1840. Oil on canvas; 61x 91.5cm in frame 76.5x107x7cm. Signed br, W A EARP. Beachscape at sunset, with the chain pier and landing-stage. The pier, 1136 feet long, was constructed by Samuel Brown in 1823 and destroyed in a gale in December 1896.
