[Published 1788 by Torre, London and Artaria, Vienna]. - Aquatint, sepia; image 46.5x64cm on sheet cut and edged to 54.5x73cm. - Signed in image br, M Cath Prestel 1787. - Conserved, but image surface damaged. - Evidence of some possibly contemporary handcolouring for details. - Scene of miners at their break, possibly a family group; includes young woman raking trug of graphite pellets; spades and baskets; horses and carts; stages of mining from extraction from pit to washing of ore. - After the oil by Loutherbourg, Labourers near a lead mine, exhibited Royal Academy London 1783 (cat.200)
