[Volume, front cover bears OX. W. & W. RAILWAY. 1851. DIRECTORS; COPY. iv + 55 double-page sheets containing hand-coloured plan and longitudinal and cross-sections. The plan occupies the first 26 double-page, hand-coloured sheets, each 54 x 75cm; the top of each sheet bears the name of the county, and the bottom the name of the parish(es) through which it passes. Rivers, streams and other natural features are all indicated as are roads, canals, other railways, individual buildings etc. The longitudinal and cross-sections occupy a further 29 double-page, hand-coloured sheets of the same size, the last two of which bear the 47 cross-sections. Embankments and cuttings are all shown against the undulating ground profile. Intersections with roads, paths, other railways, rivers, streams and canals are all indicated, with notes of bridges, levels and necessary alterations. The ruling gradient is 1:150.
