Male anatomical figure, wax, 18th century, by A.M. Manzolini of Bologna, 1740-1780
This is a figure of a man with most of his skin peeled back to reveal some of the anatomy of the body. It is made from coloured wax and is mounted on a wooden stand. It is thought to be the work of Anna Morandi Manzolini (1716-74) an Italian craftswoman in Bologna, whose skills as a wax modeller were famous in her day.
