Gold plated BBC micro with two 1mbyte disc drives, made by Acorn Computers Limited, Cambridge, England, 1985. The system arrived with a standard Philips monitor and an Acorn JP101 printer, plus a number of related user guides, manuals and other instructive material (both printed and on disc).

Gold-plated BBC micro with two 1mbyte disc drives, made by Acorn Computers Limited, Cambridge, England, 1985.

This gold-plated BBC Micro computer was offered as a competition prize for 'The Micro User' magazine's second birthday. Entrants had to describe five articles that they would expect to see in the magazine in three years time. A customised casing was made by the Universal Communications Company under the Acorn label, taking over a month to complete, and the base units for the computer were handmade, to ensure that the gold dipping process was successful. The gold dipping was carried out by B & W Plating in Crawley.
