Tin box, illustrated with 12 colour pictures of flying machines. 12 gilt and green outline illustrations on inside of lid identifying flying machines from Montgolfier Balloon 1783 via Airship R34 1919 to BOAC Jumbo 747 jet and Concorde 1970. Box contains brush and 17 small pots of Humbrol colour enamel paints as used for aeroplane model making. 6x22x9.5cm. Printed on end: 6MB Container made in England. Inscription printed on inside of lid: 'The BOAC jet fleet of the seventies ... The giant BOAC 747 .... [technical details]. The seventies will see the introduction of the supersonic Concorde'. The box bears the title ‘BOAC evolution of flight’ and features illustrations of historic aircraft together with the contemporary Boeing 747 and Concorde jet aircraft in BOAC colours. It was probably sold at Farnborough Air Shows at the time of the early flights of Concorde. Inside the tin are a brush and 17 small pots of paint as used in aircraft model making.
