The locomotive was made by Brown Boveri of Baden, Switzerland, and tested by British Brown Boveri and British Railways (Western Region) as part of BR's exploration of gas turbine locomotives. The bogies and frame were made by the Swiss Locomotive Works (SLM) of Winterthur. The photographs were all take in Switzerland and show the locomotive at Basle station and at Brown Boveri's works at Baden. There are photographs of the internal machinery, bogies, frames, controls etc. The first photograph shows the locomotive at Basle with Brown Boveri's smaller gas turbine prototype locomotive no. 1101, which remained in Switzerland. The album was assembled as a presentation album to accompany the handover of the locomotive, and according to the donor only two albums were made. The album is accompanied by negatives of four of the pictures, and a print of a painting of the locomotive that was presented at the hand-over.
