Dennis F 12 Pump Escape Fire Engine

Made:
1958 in Guildford

Dennis F 12 Pump escape fire engine, 1958, reg no 39 MMX. With complete set of accessories particular to this machine, history of service, manuals and other archive material, plus spares for the working parts

This fire engine was in active service from 1958 to 1973, and demonstrates contemporary changes in fire fighting technology. In particular, new materials such as aluminium and heavy plastic were used as an added safety measure. Other features - such as the position of the steering wheel - proved inconvenient and were adjusted in future models.

This engine was used by Middlesex Fire Service until it was retired, and later became a feature at fundraising events for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund.
