[One of] Three Fire-steels (lengths from 2 3/4 ins to 3 5/8 ins) of unusual type; all evidently by same maker; each has a single long much-twisted tang curved backwards, its end being inserted in a hook on the back of the bottom of the steel; one made from an old file. France.
