Tinder-pistol (length 5 1/4 ins) of brass, with mechanism of iron and wooden butt; large candle-socket at side; no tinder-receptacle; large ornamental foot of brass; inscribed on sides "Rd. Hollis, "Birm'm"; probably early 19th century. England. [Nos 1078-1097 have the pistol-action mechanism enclosed in the body of the pistol].
