Instantaneous Light Box (length 3 1/2 ins) of tin, combined with taper-holder; a remarkable example, evidently intended to stand on writing table, for sealing letters; exterior japanned dark brown, with ornamental gilt lining; interior painted red; in front is the light box, with hinged lid, containing three compartments; one, circular, in middle, contains acid-bottle, set in asbestos-cement, and two, one on each side, contain matches; at back is the taper-holder, circular, canister-like, with slip-on lid, and containing coil of taper, end of which projects through hole in top of lid; on back, a "tea-cup" handle of tin. ? England.
