Ilford Advocate camera, No 1919-6985. Solid body for 35mm film 24 x 36mm. With a coated Dallmeyer Anastigmat lens F:35mm f/3.5-22, No.439410. Behind lens 2 blade shutter with capping blade, 25/50/100/150/200/B. Direct vision optical finder. Two-pin socket flash contact. Helical focusing. White stove enameled finish, matt plated shutter and aperture rings. Similar to 1990-5036/3996. Ilford Ltd.

The Ilford Advocate was introduced in 1949 was unique in having an ivory enamel finish. A review in the British Journal Photographic Almanac stated that ‘The 'Advocate' is a landmark in British camera construction. As pleasing in appearance as it is accurate in construction’. In 1950 the camera cost £15-15-0.
