Nintendo Famicom SNES videogame console with two game pads hard wired to console, 1983.

The Famicom was released in Japan only in July 1983, and came with three games 'Donkey Kong', 'Donkey Kong Jr' and 'Popeye', all versions of popular Nintendo arcade games. By the end of 1984 the Famicom was the highest selling games console in Japan. The red and white console came with two controllers, attached to the body by short wires. The Famicom game 'Donkey Kong' saw an early appearance of the character 'Mario', who would go on to become the mascot of Nintendo. The Famicom was released in Europe and the United States under the name Nintendo Entertainment System.
