The Nintendo 64, often called the N64, was a video games console released by Nintendo in 1996. The '64' in the name referred to its 64-bit central processing unit. It was marketed as the world's first 64-bit games console, although Atari claimed that their 'Jaguar' console was the first 64-bit console. The N64 was named Time Magazine's 'Machine of the Year' in 1996.
