Prototype 90 channel MRI cap, developed by Graham Wiggins & Lawrence Wald, Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Massachusetts General Hospital, c.2009. For Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

A patient wears a cap like this during an MRI brain scan. This cap features 90 sensors that detect the radio signals produced by the patient's brain during the scan, so the helmet produces 90 channels of data: most commercial helmets have between 8 and 12 channels. More channels make for better sensitivity and resolution of imaging.
