Memorial brooch, with a photographic portrait of a woman, taken by unknown photographer. Gold letters 'on a black enamel border that reads: 'In Memory Of'. The print is covered by glass in an inset. Pin and hook mounting repositioned on the back. C. 1880.

This brooch may have been worn as a piece of mourning jewellery, but may also simply have been a way of remembering a loved one and preserving their image.
