Gilt pendant, 3.4cm in diameter. Head and shoulders pf a woman in lace cap Collodion positive. Mount chased and engraved 'Hannah May 1st 1857' on back. A reverse silhouette carving shows two lovebirds resting on a birdbath. The brooch frame has a decorative leaf motif, seen from the reverse in this image. The brooch could be swivelled around to show either side, depending on the wearer. A photograph of a young woman appears on the reverse.
