Whitsun 1950 was the first coupon-free petrol holiday since 1939. Petrol rationing was introduced in 1939 by the Government, requiring people to exchange coupons as well as money for their fuel.

The Photograph was taken at the bottom of Farningham Hill, where the A20 meets the Dartford Road, the A225. Today there is a roundabout where the central traffic islands stand in the photograph.
