Carter is pictured leaning out of a train window at King's Cross station, London, just about to set off for home. Horatio (Raich) Carter (1913-1994) captained the team to their first FA Cup victory, scoring the winning goal - Sunderland beat Preston North End 3-1. Carter married a few days before the final. When the Queen presented him with the Cup she is reported to have said, 'That will make a fine wedding present'.

Two Saidman brothers, Reuben and Barnet, worked as staff photographers for the Daily Herald. Their photographs are simply stamped 'Saidman' on the reverse, making it difficult to tell which of the brothers took the photograph.
