A Woodburytype entitled 'His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales', taken by Lock and Whitfield in 1876. The photograph shows Prince Albert (1841-1910), eldest son of Queen Victoria. This Woodburytype is the frontispiece of the first of a series of seven volumes entitled 'Men of Mark'. The caption underneath this portrait reads, 'Photographed from life expressly for this work, July 17th, 1876.'

The photograph shows Prince Albert (1841-1910), eldest son of Queen Victoria.

This Woodburytype is the frontispiece of the first of a series of seven volumes entitled 'Men of Mark'. Published between 1876 and 1883, each volume featured 36 portraits of prominent men of the time. A brief biographical essay by Thompson Cooper (1837-1904) accompanied each portrait.

The caption underneath this portrait reads, 'Photographed from life expressly for this work, July 17th, 1876.'
