Splints are part of the immediate treatment for suspected arm and leg fractures. Keeping fractures as still as possible helps prevent further damage to bones and surrounding nerves and tissues. This may also help reduce the person's pain. Cushioned on three sides, the splint is secured with Velcro. The plastic material is easy to clean and some immobilisers can also be used during X-rays.
