Parcel-gilt Victorian silver rosewater fountain designed as a table centrepiece, known as the Croll Testimonial, made by Stephen Smith, London, England, 1870. Presented to the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1883 by Colonel Alexander Angus Croll.

This centrepiece, made in the form of a fountain, was made for the United Kingdom Electric Telegraphic Company in 1870. It was presented to the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1883 by Col. Alexander Angus Croll, who was Master of the Company in 1877 and again in 1885. Croll was also Chairman of the United Kingdom Telegraph Company, and negotiated its sale to the Government in 1870 at a great profit, for which the Company's shareholders presented him with the Testimonial. The fountain is decorated along the theme of transatlantic telegraphy, with gilt telegraph cable, putti (chubby male infants depicted in works of art) operating telegraph machinery, and four female figures, including one holding a blueprint in one hand and a battery cell in the other.
