Silver cup presented to John Alcock by the people of Newfoundland.
John Alcock piloted the first non-stop transatlantic flight along with navigator Arthur Whitten Brown. They took off from St John's in Newfoundland on 14th June 1919 and landed near Clifden, Ireland on 15th June 1919.
Most of the aviators attempting to be the first to fly non-stop across the Atlantic had based themselves in St John's, Newfoundland, including Alcock and Brown. The preparations captured the imaginations of the population and they followed the progress and attempts closely.
This cup was presented to John Alcock by the people of St John's to celebrate his historic achievement with Arthur Whitten Brown.
