Three-way cast-iron junction pipe made by Manchester Corporation Waterworks, 1925.

From 1894 to 1972, Manchester had a hydraulic power network. Water was pumped to high pressure and delivered to customers using a network of thick iron pipes. This junction pipe was part of a network which delivered high pressure water from Manchester’s hydraulic pumping stations to customers’ machinery.
