Rotating bronze shaving razor, Egyptian, 1405BC-1367BC

Rotating shaving razors were introduced in the second half of the 18th dynasty (1550-1292BCE). This is a bronze example. Shaving was significant in Egyptian cultural life. It was compulsory for Egyptian priests to shave their heads and bodies for ceremonial purposes. High status men and women often shaved their heads and wore wigs of human hair.
