Depilatory forceps, bronze, probably Egyptian, 500-100BC

Depilatory tweezers are used for hair removal. This pair was used over 2000 years ago in Egypt. Hair removal there was part of the mummification process. Mummification was the ritual preparation of the body after death. It included removing and preserving the organs, except the heart which was the seat of the mind and all emotions.
