The longer the focal lengthe of a lens the larger image it produces in the camera in relation to the negative size. The fifty inch focal length of this lens enabled the photographer to take pictures of distant scenes, such as the newly crowned Queen and her Consort appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
