Stanton Ironworks Co Ltd, iron manufacturers and colliery proprietors

In 1878 Staveley Coal and Iron Company (1863) was incorporated as Stanton Ironworks Co Ltd. The main area of business of the company was production of spun cast iron and concrete pipes, iron castings, pig iron and chemical products located in New Stanton, South of Ilkeston, Derbyshire. In 1951 the company became nationalised under the Iron and Steel Act and formed part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain. In 1960 it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewarts and Lloyds Ltd. The company was acquired by Stewarts and Lloyds Ltd, and became known as Stanton and Staveley Ltd in 1962.
