Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RI), the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), and the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA). He worked in both oil and watercolour, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and Royal Institute of Oil Painters. he also produced commercial work for British Rail and the Post Office Savings Bank. He wrote an autobiography, My Corner of the Field, 1982.
