1776 - Josiah Spode I (1733-1897) establishes his own company to make ceramics in Stoke

1797 - William Copeland (d. 1826) becomes a partner at Spode with Josiah Spode II (d. 1828)

1833 - William Taylor Copeland in partnership with Thomas Garrett and the company became Copeland and Garrett.

1847-1966 - W T Copeland & Sons

1966 onwards - merged with Royal Worcester but manufacture at the Spode works continued until 2008.

2009 - acquired by the Portmeirion Group plc and Spode products continue to be manufactured in Stoke
