Style of artistic production by Christian Egyptians mainly from the 4th and 7th centuries or the 5th and 8th centuries, but also including works produced up to the 12th century. Works of art are characterised by bright flat colour, static figures, and decorative motifs derived from Syrian, Near Eastern, and ancient Egyptian sources.
